Wednesday
Thai Artist
Paphakorn Srikunrayakorn, also known as NEWYEAR, is renowned for her imaginative animal-like characters, often accompanied by handwritten puns and vibrant colour combinations. Her artwork has brought smiles to many audiences, radiating warmth and hope. Based in Bangkok and a graduate of Silpakorn University’s Faculty of Decorative Arts (2015), she has collaborated with international brands such as Nike, Bvlgari, Samsung, Sephora, and many more. She enjoys participating in exhibitions and continues to grow her artistic voice through both personal and collaborative projects.
Among her most well-known creations is an introverted dachshund named Wednesday, introduced to the world in 2024. Inspired by her beloved pet dog and her introverted friends, Wednesday embodies characteristics that are relatably endearing. With her drooping ears tuned to her heart, Wednesday may seem reclusive, but not because she dislikes people—rather, she is simply uncertain whether people will like her. Sometimes she clings to a pillow for comfort, and at other times she bravely faces the world on her own. Quiet, quirky, and timid yet deeply relatable, Wednesday resonates with introverts and those who love them. Through this character, NEWYEAR shares a heartfelt narrative of self-acceptance and gentle resilience, hoping to inspire others as Wednesday continues her journey—from art galleries to cafés to creative collaborations—finding her way one paw at a time.
